JR’s Barbeque is a restaurant in Los Angeles. The barbeque restaurant was founded in 1998 in Culver City by Jeanie Jackson and son, Bobby Johnson. With a combined restaurant experienced of 52 years, we decided to bring our brand of Memphis style barbeque to our home in Los Angeles. Now, our passion for delivering the best food possible, is available for all of L.A. to enjoy.
Our food is homemade and prepared with no MSG or other preservatives. The magic begins with the wood we choose to slow cook our meat: mesquite, white oak and pecan. We use our custom blend dry rub to enhance the meat flavor. Slow cooking and quality are our secrets to food that soothes and satisfies the palette. Every mouthful is as TENDER AS MOTHER’S LOVE and that’s the reason to pay us a visit.
We are close to one of the greatest sources of celebrities in the world and they like to eat well too! Our award winning barbeque sauce is a family secret consisting of the finest herbs and spices and is sure to hook you from the very beginning. I’m all about family. My mother’s name is Jeanie and my name is Robert. That’s how we came up with JR’s. My wife, Rita and my son, Robert the fourth, all work here. My dream for JR’s Barbeque is that it still is that old neighborhood spot fifty years from now!
